Mayoral Elections: Volunteers Needed
The Voting Counts website seeks to help people become engaged and informed about elections by providing politically neutral information about the how the decisions made by politicians affect our lives.
Our website is viewed by hundreds of thousands of unique visitors, and is regularly featured in the national media.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help us produce content on the following Mayors;
London- Cambridgeshire
- Greater Manchester
- Liverpool City Region
- Northumberland
- South Yorkshire
Tees Valley- West Midlands
- West of England
There are also a few single authority mayors who will need profiles too (see the list here). Those crossed out above have already been completed.
The suggested content structure for each of these profiles includes;
- Responsibilities of the Mayor
- Who can vote in these elections? (Geographical area covered and eligibility)
- Why is voting in this election important?
- Plus anything else you think would be helpful for new voters to know!
A good example of what we’re looking for is our profile of the Tees Valey Mayor or the Mayor of London.
The content we create must be politically neutral, simple, and informative. All volunteers are fully credited for their work, and we are happy to supply references for those that have contributed to our website.
If you would be interested in working on any of this content, then please email contact@votingcounts.org.uk outlining which mayoral profile you’d like to work on (you can do just one or a few!)
Promote engagement in the upcoming local elections amongst your pupils.
The Local Elections are taking place in May 2021, but on average just 35% of people vote in these elections.
We want to promote engagement in these important elections. To do this we’ve produced an online guide to them, helping people get informed about why they’re so important to engage in, but we also want to promote engagement via our eye-catching posters.
You can download them for free on our resources page, or we’ll send you a physical pack for free (you just need to pay £1.32 for the 2nd class postage).
In our physical packs you’ll receive;
- 1 x A3 Poster
- 4 x A4 Posters
- 5 x Register to Vote Posters
