EURef: The In & Out Campaigns

Britain Stronger in Europe

“We are stronger, better off and safer in Europe than we would be out on our own.

Of course the EU isn’t perfect – but leaving Europe would risk our prosperity, threaten our safety and diminish our influence in the world.

The benefits of being in clearly outweigh the costs:

  • A stronger economy that delivers opportunity now and for future generations.
    • Opportunity through growth, trade, investment, jobs and lower prices.
  • Stronger leadership on the world stage, enabling us to shape the future.
    • Influence through participation.
  • Stronger security in a dangerous world, keeping Britain safe.
    • Safety through partnerships.

To vote to remain part of Europe is to vote for a stronger, better off, safer Britain that delivers opportunity for individuals and families, now and in the future.

To vote to leave is to take a leap into the unknown, risking a weaker economy, the prospects of future generations and a loss of influence on the world stage.”

Vote Leave

Technological and economic forces are changing the world fast. EU institutions cannot cope. We have lost control of vital policies. This is damaging. We need a new relationship. What happens if we vote ‘leave’?

We should negotiate a new UK-EU deal based on free trade and friendly cooperation. We end the supremacy of EU law. We regain control. We stop sending £350 million every week to Brussels and instead spend it on our priorities, like the NHS and science research.

We regain our seats on international institutions like the World Trade Organisation so we are a more influential force for free trade and international cooperation. A vote to ‘leave’ and a better, friendlier relationship with the EU is much safer than giving Brussels more power and money every year.

The European Movement

The European Movement UK is a grass-roots, independent, pro-European organisation, working to give a voice to those who believe that Britain’s future lies side by side with our European partners. The European Movement UK is a member of the European Movement International which links an international pro-European network, active in more than 40 countries.

For nearly 70 years, The European Movement has led the campaign for a dynamic, popular, integrated and efficient Europe that can deliver jobs, security, prosperity and justice. We have always recognised that European integration is a process not an edifice set in stone and that the UK should play an imaginative and constructive role in making it work more effectively and efficiently for all our citizens. We are ready to lead the campaign to convince the British people that their prosperity and security will be put at risk should a referendum lead to our exit from Europe. We want to see a full and comprehensive debate in the belief that, presented with the real facts, British people will see our continued membership as crucial to ensure their own future and that of their children and grandchildren. The European Movement is a not-for-profit, independent, all party (and none) people’s organisation.

Leave EU

“In 1975, the British public voted ‘yes’ to a free trade deal with Europe.

What they didn’t vote for was a ‘United States of Europe’; one that would go on to crush our democracy, and in the process create a class of politicians clearly in it for themselves.

  • We now pay a staggering membership fee of £15 billion each year to the EU. In return, we run a massive trade deficit with Germany, France and nearly every other European country.
  • If 3 million UK jobs depend on our membership of the EU, then even more jobs in Europe depend on our economy.
  • We will always be a part of Europe. But the EU is run for big business, big banks and big politics – not for ordinary people.
  • We are confident that a public “in the know”, will say ‘no’ to the EU, and vote to leave in the referendum on EU membership.

Since our ‘The Know’ campaign launch in August, we have gained over 400,000 followers. We recently have re-branded the campaign to ‘’ reflecting the wording change in the referendum question and thousands of people continue to join every day. Let’s take a stand. Together, we can win back our country!”

Grassroots Out

Grassroots Out, or GO for short, is made up of politicians and supporters from across the political spectrum, with a single aim: to get the United Kingdom out of the European Union.

GO brings together existing ‘leave’ campaigns and gets them to work as one in local areas. We are an organisation that unites people from all political parties, and none, into one effective anti-EU ground campaign, which is working towards winning the referendum, door by door, vote by vote.

We will be rolling the GO campaign out across the country over the next few weeks and months. The national launch of GO took place on Saturday 23rd January 2016.
